It is a solid solution alloy that can only be strengthened by cold working and is widely used in chemical and industrial applications due to its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

ASTM B564 UNS N04400 flanges, also known as Monel alloy 400, are a nickel-based alloy with a certain amount of copper added. ASTM B564 UNS N04400 flanges typically exhibit high tensile strength over a wide temperature range, up to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 477 degrees Celsius).
Features
Corrosion Resistance: Excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of corrosive environments, including seawater, brine, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkaline solutions.
Strength and Toughness: High strength and toughness are maintained over a wide temperature range, from sub-zero to 538°C (1000°F). Mechanical properties depend on the material condition (e.g., annealed or stress relieved).
Weldability: Good weldability is achieved, but proper cleaning is required before welding to prevent contamination and brittleness.
Fabrication: Fabrication is possible through both cold and hot working processes. Cold working is the only method for increasing strength and hardness.
