GNEE STEEL Special Alloys FAQ Section gathers frequently asked questions about nickel-based superalloys, Hastelloy alloys, precision alloys and duplex stainless steel. 1.Documents & Mill Test Certificates

Q1: Will material certificates be issued for orders? What details are covered?

A: All orders come with original mill test certificates (MTC) complying with EN10204‑3.1. Documents list heat number, chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment condition and applicable standards. EN10204‑3.2 third‑party witnessed certificates are available on request. Each heat number matches product marking for full traceability.

 

Q2: Are spectrometry, NDT and third‑party SGS/BV test reports available?

A: Yes. In‑house spectrometric rechecks are available for stock goods; ultrasonic testing (UT) can be performed on plates and forgings. We coordinate tests with SGS, BV and other authorized labs. Test lead time and fees are negotiated based on grade and project specifications.

 

Q3: Can duplicate MTCs be reissued if documents are lost?

A: Digital copies are reissued free of charge upon provision of order number and heat number. Stamped hard copies can be shipped on request.

 

2.Stock Availability, Lead Time & Shipment

Q4: What grades are in stock? How fast can items be shipped?

A: We maintain plate & bar stock for mainstream grades including GH4169, GH2132, TC4, 2205, 2507, 904L and C276. Stock orders ship out within 1–3 working days after payment confirmation. Tubes, custom forgings and special sizes are made-to-order with 15–60 working days lead time, fully disclosed before order placement.

 

Q5: Do you accept small-lot and sample orders? What is the MOQ?

A: Samples and small fragmented orders are accepted with no mandatory minimum order quantity. Small test pieces are available for some high-cost superalloys; customers normally cover sample shipping fees.

 

Q6: How to handle transit damage?

A: For deliveries arranged by GNEE STEEL, inspect packaging and materials upon arrival. If dents or deformation occur during transit, take on-site photos, mark damage on the delivery receipt and contact after-sales immediately. We will coordinate with logistics teams for replacements or compensation solutions.

 

3.Return & Exchange, Quality Claim Policy

Q7: Is unconditional return allowed?

A: Special alloys are bulk commodities. Custom cut, split and machined products cannot be returned or exchanged. Unprocessed standard stock items qualify for free return/exchange with all freight covered by us only if we ship wrong grades or sizes against the contract. Returns caused by customer's wrong selection, schedule adjustment or market fluctuation will incur storage, logistics and re-inspection charges.

 

Q8: What is the procedure for quality defects?

A: Notify us within 3 working days for visual appearance or quantity discrepancies after delivery. Submit written claims within 15 working days for internal material performance issues, attached with product photos, heat marks, MTCs and test measurements. We respond within 2 hours and issue preliminary solutions in 48 hours. Re-inspection at mill or third-party labs will be arranged if needed, with official test results as the judgment standard. Damages caused by welding, heat treatment, machining or improper storage are excluded from quality claims.

 

Q9: How to resolve weight discrepancy?

A: We follow national standard allowable weight tolerance. Keep original weighing slips intact. Raise written weight claims with original bundle packaging preserved upon receipt.

 

4.Cutting & Machining Services

Q10: Do you offer laser cutting, saw cutting and cut-to-length processing? What are the machining tolerances?

A: Saw cutting, plasma cutting, laser cutting and rough machining for forgings are available. Standard saw cutting tolerance is ±1–3 mm, while laser cutting tolerance varies by plate thickness. Drawings and tolerance requirements shall be confirmed prior to order placement.

 

Q11: Is scale or burr on cut surfaces deemed a quality defect?

A: Oxide scale and burrs are normal byproducts of thermal cutting. Extra machining or grinding can be arranged for smooth, burr-free surfaces if specified in advance.

 

5.Technical Support & Application Consultation

Q12: Can you assist with material grade selection?

A: Yes. Supply your service media, temperature, pressure, corrosion environment and applicable standards. Our technicians will compare grade performance and provide recommendations. All suggestions are for reference only; final confirmation shall be made by your engineers based on project specifications.

 

Q13: Do you offer welding and heat treatment process guidance?

A: General public technical documents are available for reference. Our guidance cannot replace professional procedure qualification. WPS qualification is recommended for critical projects.

 

Q14: How should materials be stored after delivery?

A: Store indoors in dry, ventilated areas away from corrosive substances. Separate titanium and high-temperature alloys from carbon steel to avoid iron contamination. Cover plates and bars for moisture protection.

 

6.Order Modification & Cancellation

Q15: Can I adjust specifications or cancel the order after placing it?

A: Modifications are negotiable only for stock goods not yet dispatched. Cut products and made-to-order items scheduled at the mill cannot be cancelled directly; the buyer shall bear all material loss costs. Double-check drawings, grades and dimensions before order confirmation.
