High temperature GH4090 Alloy Description

Gnee Alloy GH4090 Alloy Description
GH4090 (globally known as Nimonic 90 / UNS N07090) is a nickel-based precipitation-hardened superalloy. It utilizes chromium (approx. 18–21%) and cobalt (approx. 15–21%) as primary alloying elements and achieves age-hardening through the addition of titanium and aluminum.
With a density of approximately 8.2 g/cm³, the alloy maintains excellent high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 920°C, effectively resisting deformation in high-stress environments below 900°C.
Available product forms include round and flat bars, rods, seamless tubing, wire (commonly used for high-temperature springs), and coils. It can be shaped via cold drawing, forging, or hot working and exhibits good welding and forming characteristics, though specific aging treatments are required to maximize mechanical hardening properties.
Typical applications span the aerospace sector (gas turbine blades, turbine discs, high-temperature fasteners), automotive and racing industries (high-performance engine valves, high-boost turbocharger components, high-temperature disc springs), and general industry (components requiring high stress and extreme heat resistance, such as those used in petrochemical processing and resistance furnaces).

FAQ
Q1: Is GH4090 truly interchangeable with Nimonic 90 on my blueprint?
A: GH4090 (GH90) corresponds to Nimonic 90 (UNS N07090 / W.Nr.2.4632). Their chemical composition is highly aligned. For general projects they are interchangeable, full interchangeability shall be verified against project‑specified acceptance standard. Strictly follow drawing specification for aerospace critical rotating parts.
Q2: Why is GH4090 better for springs than Inconel X-750?
A: While X-750 is excellent, GH4090 has a higher Cobalt content, which provides superior resistance to Stress Relaxation at temperatures above 600°C. If your spring must maintain constant tension at 700°C+, GH4090 is the safer, more durable choice.
Q3: Can you provide GH4090 wire in the "Cold-Drawn" state for spring coiling?
A: Absolutely. We supply wire in the Work-Hardened or Solution Treated condition, tailored to your coiling equipment's requirements. We also provide the specific aging parameters to reach peak performance post-fabrication.
Q4: Do you offer bulk discounts for aerospace maintenance (MRO) contracts?
A: Yes. As a direct Tier-1 Manufacturer, we provide tiered Wholesale Pricing and dedicated inventory reserves for long-term contract partners.
