
Monel 400 alloy seamless annealed tube
Monel 400 alloy seamless annealed tubing offers high strength, good ductility, and excellent corrosion resistance to seawater, steam, acids, and bases. However, it cannot be hardened by heat treatment and requires cold working to improve its strength. This nickel-copper alloy maintains good mechanical properties at temperatures ranging from subzero to approximately 1,000°F (538°C), making it widely used in marine, chemical processing, and oil and gas applications.
What is the annealing temperature for Monel 400?
Heating should be performed in a sulfur-free, reducing atmosphere. Annealing temperatures range from 750 to 800°F, but 800 to 800°F is most typical. Lower annealing temperatures (e.g., 750 to 800°F) allow for longer annealing times to minimize grain coarsening.

Annealed Condition Description
Annealed: In the annealed state, the tubing is relatively soft and has greater ductility, but lower mechanical strength.
Cold Working: To achieve high strength, annealed tubing is cold worked to introduce dislocations into the crystal structure, thereby increasing its hardness and strength.
