SUS434 EN 1.4113 Stainless Steel Strip Coil
434 stainless steel is a ferritic stainless steel containing chromium and molybdenum. It is a low carbon, non-hardenable grade of stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance, good toughness and good ductility. The addition of molybdenum to 434 stainless steel increases its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments.
434 stainless steel is commonly used in automotive exhaust systems, mufflers, catalytic converters and other high-temperature applications because of its ability to withstand high temperatures without losing its structural integrity. It is also used in industrial and construction applications where good corrosion resistance and a pleasing appearance are important.
Mechanical properties of 434 stainless steel:
Tensile strength: 450-600 MPa
Yield strength: 240 MPa
Elongation at break: 25% minimum
Hardness: Maximum Brinell hardness 140
The mechanical properties of 434 stainless steel may vary depending on factors such as heat treatment process, material thickness and specific application.
General Purpose Grade (Type 430), the molybdenum-containing version of Type 433, has the same combination of useful properties. The addition of molybdenum (nominal 1%) helps to improve properties, especially corrosion resistance properties against corrosive road salts in automotive coating applications. As with all Type 430 variations, the alloy is highly magnetic.
Type 434 is often used in automotive and appliance coatings. It experienced more stringing during shaping than the Type 430 did.
