Monel 400 rod is a solid solution strengthened alloy and Monel K-500 is a precipitation strengthened alloy. The overall properties of K-500 alloy rod are superior to 400 alloy rod. Both alloys have very good corrosion resistance. Monel 400 rod is magnetic in some cases, while Monel K-500 rod is non-magnetic in all cases.

Annealing heat treatment temperature of MONEL400 alloy bar should generally be carried out in the range of 700 to 900°C (1300 to 1650°F), and the recommended temperature is about 825°C (1510°F). Rapid air cooling or water quenching is recommended for better corrosion resistance.
