What is the chemical compatibility of alloy C276?
Hastelloy C-276 has good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in both reducing and oxidizing media. It is extremely resistant to wet chloride gas and chlorine dioxide environments. It maintains good corrosion resistance even in welded form. Alloy C-276 is used in chemical processing, pollution control, scrubbers, flue gas reheaters, pharmaceutical and food processing systems.
C-276 alloy is an enhanced corrosion resistant material. It does not require heat treatment after welding and has greatly improved machinability. It resists the production of grain precipitation in the weld area, making it very suitable for chemical processing applications in welded form. However, under conditions where Alloy C-276 welds may corrode, Hastelloy C-22 welding filler metal is recommended.
Alloy C-276 has excellent resistance to localized corrosion and redox environments. This versatile material can be used in severe conditions and is suitable for multi-functional installations.
