Monel 400 Alloy Tubes have a tensile strength between 517-620 MPa and a yield strength between 172-345%, making it an ideal steel grade. It has a high nickel content of 40-50%, 34% copper, 2.5% iron, up to 2% manganese, and less than 1% silicon and carbon. Monel 400 alloy is known as a super alloy and is available in a variety of standard shapes such as hexagonal, round, pipe, tube, strip, plate, and wire. Standards for Monel 400 include AMS 4574, AMS 4675, AMS 4731, ASTM B163, ASTM B165, ASTM F96, UNS N04400, etc.

The machinability of Monel 400 can be challenging as work hardening occurs during machining. Although conventional machining works well on the ferrous alloys used for this alloy, its welding methods include metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, etc. Forging of Monel 400 uses controlled procedures. Hot working can be performed in the range of 648-1176 degrees Celsius. However, cold working is only suitable for soft die materials to obtain complete surface effects. After forming, annealing should be performed at 926 degrees Celsius.
