Inconel600 characteristics and application areas overview:
This alloy is a nickel-chromium-iron based solid solution strengthened alloy with good high-temperature corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, excellent cold and hot processing and welding performance, and has satisfactory thermal strength and high plasticity below 700°C. The alloy can be strengthened by cold working, and can also be connected by resistance welding, fusion welding or brazing. It is suitable for making oxidation-resistant parts that withstand low loads below 1100°C.

Inconel600 metallographic structure:
The alloy is treated at 1120℃ for 2h, and only TiN nitride and Cr7C3 carbide are present. After long-term aging at 870℃ and 1500℃, the organization still contains Cr7C3 and TiN, indicating that the organization of the alloy is stable.
Inconel600 process performance and requirements:
1. The alloy has good hot working performance, and the heating temperature of the ingot forging is 1110℃~1140℃.
2. The average grain size of the alloy is closely related to the deformation degree and final forging temperature of the forging.
3. The alloy has good welding performance and can be connected by various methods such as arc welding, argon arc welding, resistance welding and brazing. Large or complex welded structures should be annealed at 870℃ for 1h after fusion welding to eliminate welding stress.
4. The alloy must be machined after heat treatment. Due to the work hardening of the material, it is advisable to use a lower cutting speed and heavy feed than the processing of low-alloy standard austenitic stainless steel to machine under the cold-work hardened surface.
Inconel600 alloy welding uses AWS A5.14 welding wire ERNiCr-3 or AWS A5.11 welding rod ENiCrFe-3
Inconel600 application:
1. Thermocouple sleeves in corrosive atmosphere
2. Vinyl chloride monomer production: resistance to chlorine, hydrogen chloride, oxidation and carbonization corrosion
3. Uranium oxidation conversion to hexafluoride: resistance to hydrogen fluoride corrosion
4. Production and use of corrosive alkali metals, especially in environments using sulfides
5. Chlorine method for titanium dioxide
6. Production of organic or inorganic chlorides and fluorides: resistance to chlorine and fluorine corrosion
7. Nuclear reactors
8. Retorts and components in heat treatment furnaces, especially in carbonization and nitriding atmospheres
9. Catalytic regenerators in petrochemical production are recommended to use alloy 600 in applications above 700°C to obtain a longer service life.
