The endurance performance of Inconel 718 is closely related to the microstructure and heat treatment process of the alloy. Endurance performance is usually measured by creep strength and creep life, that is, the ability of the material to maintain its shape and function for a long time under high temperature and constant stress.
Endurance Strength
The endurance strength of Inconel718 decreases with increasing temperature. According to experimental data, the endurance strength of the alloy is 650MPa at 650℃, and drops to 550MPa at 760℃.
Typical data of endurance strength changing with temperature:
650℃: 650MPa
760℃: 550MPa
870℃: 420MPa
Endurance Life
The endurance life of Inconel718 can be evaluated at different temperatures through experiments. Under the stress conditions of 650℃ and 700MPa, its endurance life can reach more than 1000 hours.
In the long-term use of high temperature and high pressure, Inconel718 shows excellent creep resistance and fatigue resistance. Durable life test data:
650℃, 700MPa: 1000 hours
760℃, 600MPa: 500 hours
870℃, 500MPa: 200 hours
Yield strength and high temperature performance
Yield strength changes with temperature
The yield strength of Inconel718 is about 1035MPa at room temperature, and its yield strength will gradually decrease at high temperature, but still maintain a high level. At 700℃, the yield strength remains at around 800MPa, meeting the strength requirements of high-temperature equipment for materials. Typical yield strength data:
25℃:1035MPa
650℃:830MPa
760℃:800MPa
870℃:600MPa
Due to its excellent durability and yield strength, Inconel718 is widely used in aerospace, gas turbine and nuclear industries: Gas turbine turbine blades: Turbine blades need to work at extremely high temperatures.
Comparison of Inconel718 durability performance with competing alloys
Compared with other nickel-based super alloys (such as Inconel625 or Incoloy800), Inconel718 has obvious advantages in high-temperature durability and yield strength. Especially in the medium and high temperature range of 700-800℃, Inconel718 exhibits higher creep strength and durability life. Therefore, it is more widely used in key high-temperature equipment and extreme working conditions. Comparison of endurance strength (at 700°C):
Inconel718: 600MPa
Inconel625: 500MPa
Incoloy800: 350MPa
