Inconel 600 Plate: Overview of Properties and Applications

Inconel 600 Plate: Overview of Properties and Applications
Inconel 600 alloy plate is a high-performance nickel-chromium alloy known for its exceptional high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance up to 2000°F, and resistance to various corrosive media, particularly chloride stress corrosion cracking. Therefore, it is an ideal material for manufacturing furnace components, nuclear reactor components, chemical processing equipment (such as dichloroethane cracking units), and aerospace components that require durability in extreme high-temperature and corrosive environments, despite its relatively low thermal conductivity.
Is Inconel 600 magnetic?
Inconel 600 is non-magnetic and possesses excellent mechanical properties, combining high strength with good workability, and is easily welded. The cold-forming characteristics of the 600 alloy are similar to those of chromium-nickel stainless steel.

What is Inconel 600 plate?
Inconel 600 plate is a high-strength nickel-chromium alloy known for its heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and stress resistance. Gnee Steel supplies Inconel 600 plates designed for demanding environments. These plates have good tensile strength and maintain their shape even at high temperatures. Composed of approximately 72% nickel, 14-17% chromium, and a small amount of iron, it possesses excellent mechanical and physical properties, making it stable even under harsh conditions.
These plates are widely used in demanding industries such as aerospace, chemical processing, food processing, and heat treatment. It also performs reliably in petrochemical and power plants. Inconel 600 plates are resistant to corrosion, high temperatures, and high pressure, and are not easily damaged. They are used in furnace components, turbine blades, and heater components. The plates can be cold-rolled, hot-rolled, or precision-cut to meet specific requirements.

Inconel 600 Sheet Surface Finishes
#1 Inconel 600 Sheet – Hot rolled, annealed and descaled. Available in strip, foil and coil. Suitable for applications where a smooth, decorative surface is not required.
#2D Inconel 600 Sheet – Cold rolled, annealed and descaled, resulting in a matte finish. Used for deep drawing applications and parts requiring lubricant retention during forming.
#2B Inconel 600 Sheet – Cold rolled, annealed and descaled, resulting in a smooth finish. A light cold rolling pass with polishing rolls after annealing makes it brighter than the 2D finish.
#BA Inconel 600 Sheet - Bright annealed cold rolled and bright annealed.
#CBA Inconel 600 Sheet - Coarse bright annealed cold rolled matte surface and bright annealed.
#2 Inconel 600 Sheet - Cold rolled
#2BA Inconel 600 Sheet – Smooth surface formed after cold rolling and bright annealing. A light rolling pass with highly polished rolls results in a glossy surface. The 2BA finish is suitable for light forming applications where a glossy surface is required on the formed part.
Polishing - Various grit polishing treatments are available depending on specific surface finish requirements.
