Comparison of Nickel 600 and ASTM HP grade steel

Comparison of Nickel 600 and ASTM HP grade UNS N08705 steel
Nickel Alloy 600 is a high-nickel alloy renowned for its excellent high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance; while ASTM HP grade steel (N08705) is a high-chromium-nickel cast stainless steel designed for applications requiring high corrosion resistance and heat resistance. Nickel Alloy 600 exhibits excellent resistance to carburization and is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy; while N08705 is an iron-based alloy with a chromium content exceeding 25% and a nickel content exceeding 35%, making it a special high-performance stainless steel.
What are the characteristics of Inconel 600?
Inconel 600 is non-magnetic, possesses excellent mechanical properties, combines high strength with good machinability, and is easy to weld. The 600 alloy exhibits cold-forming characteristics generally similar to chromium-nickel stainless steel.

ASTM HP grade steel is an austenitic stainless steel used for casting. The listed performance parameters apply to the raw state without tempering or treatment. HP is the ASTM designation for this material, N08705 is its UNS designation, and 26Cr-35Ni is its commonly used industry name. Among cast austenitic stainless steels, HP grade steel has a relatively low thermal conductivity. Furthermore, it has poor ductility and a higher base cost.
Nickel Alloy 600, also sold under the brand name Inconel 600. It is a unique nickel-chromium alloy that is known for its oxidation resistance at higher temperatures. It is highly versatile and can be used in everything from cryogenics to applications that present elevated temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C).
