Monel 400 sheets are a copper-nickel based alloy sheet. Apart from this, it also contains content of manganese, silicon, and carbon. These alloy 400 sheets have good ductility and can withstand a wide range of corrosive environments. These sheets perform excellently against alkaline and acidic environments. However, it has very good thermal conductivity in the annealed condition. This grade of sheets has high tensile strength and toughness. Moreover, they are suitable for temperatures up to minus 1000°F. Therefore, these sheets gain good hardness through the cold working process.
Type 400 sheets and plates resist stress corrosion cracking and pitting. Therefore, it exhibits good resistance to marine conditions. However, they are cold rolled and hot rolled to form.

Monel 400 Sheet Surface Finishes

#1 Monel 400 Sheet - Hot rolled annealed and descaled. Available in strip, foil and ribbon. It is used for applications where a smooth decorative surface is not required.

#2D Monel 400 Sheet - Dull finish produced by cold rolling, annealing and descaling. Used for deep drawn parts and those parts where lubricants need to be retained during the forming process.

#2B Monel 400 Sheet - Smooth finish produced by cold rolling, annealing and descaling. A light cold rolling pass with a polishing roller is added after annealing to give it a brighter surface than 2D.

#CBA Monel 400 Sheet - Rough Bright Annealed Cold Rolled Matte Finish and Bright Annealed

#2 Monel 400 Sheet - Cold Rolled

#2BA Monel 400 Sheet - Smooth finish produced by cold rolling and bright annealing. Light treatment with a highly polished roller produces a glossy surface. 2BA surface can be used for light molding applications where a glossy surface is desired for the molded part.
