ASTM A753 Alloy 4 Plates are used in applications that require high magnetic permeability. They are widely used in magnetic core. They offer low coercive field strength and high electrical resistivity. They offer low core costs and are said to be a soft magnetic alloy. Power metallurgically produced or cast parts are not covered under the ASTM A753 Alloy Type 4 Sheet specification. It requires the material to have isotope or semi isotopic magnetic properties. However, it does not include square hysteresis or anisotropic alloys. The machinability of ASTM A753 is enhanced by the addition of selenium and sulfur in trace amounts in these alloys.
