Type SS 446 is high chromium ferritic SS material that is usually used in the high-temperature applications that are ranging from 1500 deg F- 2200 deg F. This material is one of the high oxidation resistance steel material in series 400-4xx. Also, it is showing good resistance ability to the cyclic oxidation and that is quite better than other alloying elements. Moreover, this material is the heat-resistant alloy that tolerates molten brass and copper. This material, however, doesn't have excellent high-temperature strength. Nitrogen alloy is further added for the grain refinement.
