ISI 5140 Carbon Alloy Steel Plate
ISI 5140 steel can also be called JIS Scr440 and DIN 1.7035 steel. It is one of the alloy steels and the most popular steel type in machine production. AISI 5140 round steel is at a mid-range price and is easy to process. After tempering and quenching, its toughness, plasticity and wear resistance will become better. Normalizing steel can make it easier to spheroidize the steel structure. And improve the cutting processability of semi-finished products with hardness less than 160HBS. Tempering at a temperature of 550℃-570℃ can achieve better mechanical properties. Its hardenability is higher than S45C steel. 5140 steel applications
After quenching and tempering, it can be used to make accessories for machines with medium loads and high working speeds. Such as automobile steering knuckles, gears, machine tool shafts, etc. If treated with medium temperature quenching and tempering, it will be the best choice for pipe fittings with high load, low impact and good wear resistance. Such as gears, lantern rings, etc. After quenching and low temperature tempering, the performance will be better than the previous one. People usually use it to manufacture parts with good wear resistance and high load and low impact. You can see that the spindle, machine bolts, etc. are all made of it.
5140 steel plate round bar heat treatment
1.The heat treatment methods of 7035 steel include normalizing, annealing, quenching, tempering, etc.
(1)Quenching at 850℃, oil cooling.
(2) Tempering at 520℃, water cooling and oil cooling.
The surface hardness after quenching is 52-60HRC.
Nitrogen treatment
5140 steel can be nitrided, and its elements are conducive to nitriding. Higher surface hardness can be obtained after nitriding. After nitriding, quenching and tempering, the maximum hardness can reach 72-78HRA. Core hardness is 43-55HRC.
