UNS N06600 is the material designation for Alloy 600 (also known as Inconel 600), a nickel-chromium alloy known for its excellent high-temperature strength and resistance to various corrosion types, including oxidation, reduction, and chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking. Seamless tubing made from this alloy is used in demanding applications such as heat exchangers and condensers, which require durability and corrosion resistance at high temperatures.

What is the difference between Inconel 625 and Alloy 600?

Alloy 600 contains no molybdenum, while Alloy 625 contains over 8% molybdenum, which gives it some resistance to reduction. Alloy 600, on the other hand, lacks this. Therefore, Inconel 625 offers significantly better overall corrosion resistance.
ASTM B167 This specification covers cold-annealed, hot-annealed, and hot-finished seamless tubing of nickel-chromium-iron alloys (UNS N06600, N06601, N06603, N06690, N06693, N06025, and N06045) and nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloys (UNS N06617) for general corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant applications.
Properties of UNS N06600 Nickel Alloy Seamless Tubing for Condensers
Workability
Alloy 600 exhibits good hot and cold workability in the annealed condition.
Hot working should be performed above 1600°F (871°C) to ensure adequate ductility, while cold working should be performed below 1200°F (649°C).
Corrosion Resistance
Alloy 600 offers excellent corrosion resistance, thanks to the combined corrosion-resistant properties of chromium and nickel. Alloy 600 also performs well in reducing acids, weakly oxidizing acids, high-purity water, and other media, and is largely immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
High-Temperature Resistance
Alloy 600 exhibits excellent oxidation resistance up to 1177°C (2150°F).
