ASTM B163 Monel 400 bright finish tubing is a corrosion-resistant, high-strength nickel-copper alloy known for its excellent mechanical properties over a wide temperature range and its resistance to seawater, steam, and certain acids. Its bright finish, a cold-drawn, polished surface, is suitable for applications such as heat exchangers and marine systems, where it resists chloride stress corrosion cracking. This alloy is strengthened by cold working, is non-magnetic, and can be welded using conventional methods.

Monel 400 alloy is not always non-magnetic, as its room temperature magnetism depends on its chemical composition and thermal history, with a Curie temperature close to the ambient temperature range. While Monel 400 alloy is widely used for its corrosion resistance, it is slightly magnetic at room temperature but loses its magnetism at higher temperatures.

Corrosion Resistance
Excellent: Resistant to high-temperature seawater and steam, as well as saline and alkaline solutions.
Good: Resistant to degassed sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid, and exhibits good corrosion resistance to various organic acids and salts.
Poor: Susceptible to nitric acid and ammonia systems due to the high copper content.
Mechanical Properties
High Strength and Toughness: Excellent strength and toughness over a wide temperature range.
Non-Magnetic: 400 alloy is non-magnetic.
Weldability: Excellent weldability.

Gnee Steel specializes in the production of various nickel-based alloys. Gnee Steel's product packaging includes steel strapping: Pipes with an outer diameter of 3 inches or less are typically strapped together with polypropylene film to prevent rust during sea transportation, and then secured with steel strapping. Wooden boxes/crates: Pipes are typically packaged in wooden boxes or crates to protect them during transportation, especially those that are longer or have larger diameters. Seaworthy export packaging: Suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include a variety of materials and techniques to protect the pipes during transportation. Tarpaulin packaging: This prevents rain, seawater, and other external factors from penetrating the export wooden crates during transportation. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sale of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, and nuclear energy industries, and we can provide customized alloy material solutions based on customer needs.
