Monel Lapped Joint Flanges

Lap flanges slip directly over the pipe and are used with stub end fittings and also swivel complementary to the stub end. This type of flange is required for pipe assemblies where each side of the flange is connected to the stub end and a loose backing flange. The outside diameter of the outer stub end is connected by a removable backing flange which is butt welded to the pipe.

Monel lap joint flanges are made from a nickel-copper alloy that offers high strength, toughness and excellent corrosion resistance over a wide temperature range. One outstanding feature of Monel lap joint flanges is their excellent resistance to hydrofluoric acid, a particularly difficult acid to handle, up to its boiling point. Monel lap joint flanges are probably the most resistant of all the alloys commonly used for hydrofluoric acid applications.
