This document introduces the differences between Inconel 600 and Incoloy 825 alloy coils

Both Inconel 600 coils and Incoloy 825 coils are high-performance nickel-based superalloys, but their main differences lie in their chemical composition, intended applications, and cost. Inconel 600 alloy coils have a higher nickel content and are optimized for high-temperature strength, while Incoloy 825 coils are a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that performs exceptionally well in certain highly corrosive, acidic environments.

What is the maximum operating temperature of Incoloy 825?

Operating Temperature
The operating temperature range for Alloy 825 is from cryogenic temperatures up to 1000°F (540°C). Use of Alloy 825 at temperatures above 1000°F (538°C) is not recommended, as harmful phases may form at these temperatures, negatively impacting impact toughness and ductility.

Incoloy 825

Inconel 600 coil is a continuous rolled material (typically thin sheet or strip) made from a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron alloy. It possesses excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance (up to approximately 1150°C), superior resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, and good formability. Supplied in an efficient, continuous form, it is specifically designed for the mass production of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant gaskets, seals, bellows, heating element sheaths, and equipment linings through automated stamping, bending, welding, and other processes. It is a key foundational material for the large-scale production of complex corrosion-resistant components in the chemical, heat treatment, nuclear power, and electronics industries.

Incoloy 825 coil is a continuous rolled material made from a nickel-iron-chromium alloy (Incoloy 825). Through the addition of elements such as molybdenum, copper, and titanium, it is specifically optimized to resist mixed corrosive environments of strong reducing acids (such as sulfuric acid) and oxidizing acids (such as nitric acid). It exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion, making it suitable for the mass production of components for acidic oil and gas field equipment, chemical container linings, seawater heat exchanger units, and flue gas desulfurization system components. It is a key engineering material form that combines efficient processing with effective protection against complex industrial corrosion.

Inconel 600 Coils vs. Inconel 825 Alloy Coils – Corrosion Resistance Comparison

Both of these alloys are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, but they excel in different environments. Inconel 600 coils are particularly resistant to oxidation and corrosion in high-temperature oxidizing atmospheres, such as those encountered in furnace components and heat treatment equipment. In contrast, Inconel 825 exhibits superior corrosion resistance in reducing environments and acidic media, making it the preferred material for chemical processing equipment and seawater applications.
