Nickel alloy UNS N07718 (Alloy 718) bright bar, also known as Inconel 718 bar, is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy with excellent yield strength, tensile strength, and creep-rupture strength at elevated temperatures (up to 1300°F/704°C), along with good resistance to oxidation and corrosion. Bright bar refers to the finished product with a smooth, clean surface. Due to its high strength, ductility, and easy formability, Alloy 718 bright bar is suitable for demanding applications such as jet engine components, aerospace components, high-temperature bolts, and cryogenic services.
How does Inconel 718 alloy resist corrosion?
Inconel 718 alloy's high nickel content provides strong resistance to chloride stress cracking corrosion. Furthermore, the presence of chromium makes its corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments even better than pure nickel.
