Inconel 718 is a high-performance nickel-based alloy containing Ni50-55%, Cr17-21%, corrosion and oxidation resistance. It has high density, high melting point, high strength, good toughness, good hot working and excellent welding. It is used in high temperature and high pressure parts in aerospace, petrochemical and nuclear industries.
Physical properties
The density is about 8.2 g/cm³, which is higher than that of ordinary steel. This means that Inconel718 alloy will be heavier at the same volume.
The melting point is between 1260-1340℃. The higher melting point allows it to remain solid in a high temperature environment, which provides a basis for its high temperature application.
The thermal expansion coefficient is relatively low, and the size of the material changes less when the temperature changes.
Mechanical properties
It has high yield strength and tensile strength. At room temperature, the yield strength can reach more than 1034MPa and the tensile strength can reach more than 1241MPa. In high temperature environments, such as 650℃, its yield strength can still maintain a high level, which enables it to withstand large loads and can be used to manufacture components that withstand high temperature and high pressure.
The fatigue strength of the alloy is also excellent. Under repeated loading, it can resist the generation and expansion of fatigue cracks, thereby extending the service life of the components.

Processing performance
The hot processing performance is good, and hot processing operations such as forging and rolling can be performed within an appropriate temperature range (such as 950-1050℃). However, due to the high high temperature strength of the alloy, greater pressure is required during hot processing.
Cold processing is relatively difficult, because the alloy has high strength and hardness in the cold state. When performing cold processing operations such as cold drawing and cold rolling, higher processing forces are required, and work hardening is easy to occur.
Application field
In the field of aerospace, Inconel718 alloy is widely used to manufacture high temperature components such as turbine disks, blades, and combustion chambers of engines. These components are subject to complex working conditions of high temperature, high pressure and high speed during the flight of the aircraft. The high performance of Inconel718 alloy can ensure the reliability and safety of the components. Petrochemical industry: used to manufacture reactors, pipelines, valves and other equipment under high temperature, high pressure and corrosive environments.
