ASTM B407 UNS N08811 Nickel Alloy Pickled Seamless Pipe

ASTM B407 UNS N08811 Nickel Alloy Pickled Seamless Pipe
ASTM B407 UNS NO8811 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy seamless tube (Incoloy 800HT) designed for high-temperature applications and renowned for its exceptional strength, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance. Key features include exceptional creep and rupture resistance at high temperatures (>1100°F), making it suitable for the demanding environments of industries such as petrochemicals and heat treating. Its "pickled" surface treatment indicates surface oxide removal, while its "seamless" construction eliminates welds, enhancing strength and reliability.
What are the ASTM specifications for Incoloy 800?
This nickel-iron-chromium alloy, Incoloy 800 pipe, maintains its austenitic microstructure even when exposed to high temperatures. According to ASTM B407, these pipes are annealed at 1800°F for 15 minutes. After annealing, the 800 alloy seamless pipe is air-cooled.

Each specimen (in this case, Incoloy 800HT tubing) is subjected to either a hydrostatic pressure test or a nondestructive eddy current test. Testing of Inconel 800HT tubing to ASTM SB 407 UNS N08811 is performed not only to determine the permissible fiber stress, but also to detect any significant discontinuities. Discontinuities such as drill holes or transverse tangential notches are common in seamless Incoloy alloy 800HT tubing. Cold-drawn DIN 1.4959 tubing must achieve commercial straightness according to ASTM B407.

Specifications and Manufacturing
Standards: This pipe conforms to ASTM B407, a standard for seamless nickel-iron-chromium alloy pipe. UNS N08811 is the specific designation for Incoloy 800HT.
Seamless: The seamless pipe features a weld-free design, eliminating potential failure points and improving reliability under pressure and high temperatures.
Pickled Surface: The surface is pickled to remove scale and oxides, resulting in a cleaner surface, improving corrosion resistance and surface quality.
Welding: Field welding is possible using conventional processes.
Typical Applications
Petrochemical: For use in chemical and petrochemical processing, ethylene plants, and other high-temperature and high-pressure systems.
Heat Treatment: Suitable for use in heat treatment furnaces and fixtures.
Power Generation: For use in steam generator piping and heat exchangers.
Other Industries: Also used in pulp and paper and petroleum processing.

Gnee Steel specializes in the production of various nickel-based alloys. Gnee Steel's product packaging includes steel strapping: Pipes with an outer diameter of 3 inches or less are typically strapped together with polypropylene film to prevent rust during sea transportation, and then secured with steel strapping. Wooden boxes/crates: Pipes are typically packaged in wooden boxes or crates to protect them during transportation, especially those that are longer or have larger diameters. Seaworthy export packaging: Suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include a variety of materials and techniques to protect the pipes during transportation. Tarpaulin packaging: This prevents rain, seawater, and other external factors from penetrating the export wooden crates during transportation. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sale of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, and nuclear energy industries, and we can provide customized alloy material solutions based on customer needs.
