ASTM B407 UNS N08810 Nickel-Iron-Chromium Alloy Seamless Pipe

ASTM B407 UNS N08810 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy seamless tubing, also known as Incoloy 800H, known for its high strength, high-temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance. Manufactured to stringent chemical composition, heat treatment, and mechanical property standards, it's commonly used in demanding applications such as chemical processing, power generation, and heat treatment equipment.

What is ASTM B407 material?

Overview: ASTM B407 is a commonly used standard for seamless nickel-iron-chromium alloy tubing. It specifies requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and other properties. Incoloy 800, 800H, and 800HT are commonly used grades in this standard.

ASTM B407 material

This product is a seamless tube made from a nickel-iron-chromium alloy (UNS N08810, commonly known as 800H) according to ASTM B407. This alloy is specifically designed to withstand extremely high temperatures and corrosive environments. The key "H" designation indicates that it undergoes a specific heat treatment (solution annealing) to achieve a coarse-grained structure, significantly improving its creep and rupture strength at high temperatures. Its basic composition is the same as Incoloy 800, but with significantly higher creep strength.

This seamless tube is highly regarded for its excellent resistance to oxidation and carburization, as well as its exceptional stability under high stress and high temperature conditions. This higher strength is achieved through carefully controlled carbon, aluminum, and titanium content, combined with a heat treatment process. It is widely used in petrochemical processes, power plant heater and reheater piping, industrial furnaces, and heat treatment equipment.

Manufacturing and Quality Control
Seamless pipe: Seamless pipe is typically produced using cold working processes (such as cold rolling and extrusion) to achieve a fine-grained structure and increase strength.
Heat Treatment: Final heat treatment is performed to meet specific requirements for properties such as grain size. UNS N08810 requires a minimum annealing temperature of 2050°F (1120°C).
Testing: Each pipe is tested to ensure it meets quality standards. These tests include checking for discontinuities and confirming mechanical properties such as yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation.
