ASME SB677 TP904L Industrial Nickel Alloy Pipe

ASME SB677 TP904L is a nickel alloy pipe made from low-carbon, high-alloy austenitic stainless steel. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in sulfuric acid and chloride environments. Rich in nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and copper, this pipe is suitable for the harsh environments of the chemical process industry, oil and gas, and seawater cooling systems. These pipes are known for their high strength, toughness, good weldability, and formability.

What are the specifications for 904L pipe?

UNS N08904 pipe has a density of 7.95 g/cm³, meeting international and national standards. These pipes have a melting point as high as 1350°C. 904L pipe is widely used where the corrosion resistance of 316L and 317L pipes is insufficient.

ASME SB677, a material standard in Part B, Division II of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, is titled "Nickel Alloy Seamless Pipe and Tubing." This standard specifies the chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances, and other requirements for nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy seamless pipe. TP904L pipe refers to a specific type of high-performance austenitic stainless steel, often referred to as "super austenitic stainless steel." However, due to its high nickel content (approximately 25%), its properties are closer to those of nickel-base alloys, particularly in terms of corrosion resistance. Therefore, in commercial and industrial classifications, it is often referred to as a nickel-base alloy.
