INCONEL Alloy 740H is a nickel-based precipitation hardening superalloy offering unique strength and creep resistance at high temperatures and resistance to soot corrosion. The alloy was originally targeted for use in the A-USC boiler tubes in the superheater section of these plants, but was subsequently adapted for application as a material for the steam headers connecting the boiler tubes. A-USC boiler tubes are conventional sizes [outer diameter typically 1.5 to 3 inches (38 to 76 mm)]. Main steam header sizes occupy a wider range of sizes, with outside diameters greater than 12 inches (305 mm) and wall thicknesses that may exceed 1.5 inches (38 mm). Seamless steam reheat pipes up to 30 inches (760 mm) outside diameter are also a viable product conforming to INCONEL Alloy 740H.

Inconel 740H obtains age hardening by precipitation of gamma primary and secondary phases. After age strengthening, 740H alloy exhibits excellent high-temperature strength at temperatures below 850°C. 740H alloy contains high content of chromium and cobalt, which has excellent resistance to oxidation, carbonization and sulfurization at high temperatures.
Inconel 783 is a Co-Ni-Fe based precipitation hardening ferromagnetic oxidation resistant low expansion deformation high temperature alloy with a service temperature of less than 750°C. The alloy can reach complete oxidation resistance at 750°C and has excellent room temperature and high temperature mechanical properties, low thermal expansion coefficient and low density. The fine grain size can be controlled by precipitating β-NiAl phase during hot deformation.
