Alloy 686 was developed specifically in response to the search for an alloy that would exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in many harsh corrosive environments. Alloy 686 is used in the harshest working conditions, including chemical processing, pollution prevention, pulp and paper, industrial waste and domestic waste treatment. Chemical processing includes heat exchangers, reactors, evaporators and transfer piping. Air pollution prevention and control includes chimney linings, pipes, furnace doors, scrubbers, flue gas reheaters, propellers, and outer covers.
Inconel 706 is composed of nickel-chromium-iron. Adding chromium to the nickel matrix enhances its adaptability in oxidizing environments. Its corrosion resistance to inorganic acids is only moderate, but its corrosion resistance to organic acids is very good, so it is widely used in the processing of fatty acids. Inconel 706 has the advantages of high strength, high toughness, low magnetic permeability and excellent corrosion resistance.
