The duplex steel rod has a microstructure of two phases- Ferritic and Austenitic. The composition of Duplex steel has more Chromium and Molybdenum. The above properties make the alloy highly resistant to corrosive environments, especially salt water. Hence, they are popularly applicable in desalination systems, pipes, and pumps with saltwater exposure.Strain hardening of a duplex stainless steel bar refers to work hardening. The alloy cannot undergo heat treatment; however work hardening of the material at low temperatures is possible. The process produces mechanical deformation due to smaller cross-section and lower ductility. However, the corrosion resistance and strength of the material improves.The rolled duplex steel bar is the result of a hot-rolling or cold-rolling process. The hot-rolling involves heating the duplex stainless steel above its recrystallization temperature. It improves the mechanical properties and shapes of the material. The cold-rolling process involves bringing the hot-rolled duplex bar to room temperature and processing it further. It provides precision, hardness, smooth surface finish, etc.The forged duplex stainless steel flat bar is the result of heating the alloy at extreme temperatures, called Forging.
