light. Tungsten has been widely used as the filament in traditional incandescent light bulbs. Due to low energy efficiency, high heat generation, and short lifespan, these bulbs have been gradually replaced by fluorescent lamps and, more recently, LED lamps.
Furnace parts and high temperature alloys. Due to their high melting point and strength, tungsten and its alloys are used in many high-temperature applications, such as arc welding electrodes, heating elements and shields in high-temperature vacuum furnaces, and turbine blades in generators and aircraft engines.
X-ray target. Tungsten is the most commonly used target material in X-ray generation. Tungsten has a high atomic number and can increase the intensity of X-rays at certain voltages and currents. Its high melting point also makes the X-ray anode white-hot.
Radiation shielding. Tungsten alloy combines the advantages of high density, high radiation absorption, high melting point and good corrosion resistance, making it an ideal material for shielding various types of radiation.
Armor Penetrator. The weapon uses the kinetic energy of the projectile to destroy enemy targets. This energy is a function of mass and how fast it reaches the target (final velocity). Mass depends on density and terminal velocity depends on density and melting temperature. Tungsten offers both of these advantages.

Molybdenum tungsten alloy
Alloys containing two elements, molybdenum and tungsten, include molybdenum-based molybdenum-tungsten alloys and tungsten-based tungsten-molybdenum alloy series. This alloy can be formed in any proportion and is a complete solid solution alloy at all temperatures.
Niobium Tungsten Alloy
Niobium alloy is formed by adding a certain amount of tungsten and other elements based on niobium. Tungsten and niobium form an infinite solid solution. Tungsten is an effective strengthening element for niobium, but as the amount of tungsten added increases, the plasticity-brittleness transition temperature of the alloy will increase and the grains will grow significantly. Therefore, in order to obtain a high-strength niobium-tungsten alloy, the amount of tungsten added must be appropriately controlled, and at the same time, elements such as zirconium and hafnium must be added to refine the grains and reduce the plastic-brittle transition temperature. In 1961, the United States successfully developed the Nb-10W-2.5Zr alloy for the space shuttle skin, and later developed it into the Nb-10W-1Zr-0.1C alloy. In the early 1970s, China also successfully developed NbWl0Zr2.5 and NbWl0Zr1C0.1 alloys.
Carbide
Carbide is the most common and important form of tungsten alloy. It is different from the previous tungsten alloys in that it is made of tungsten, carbon and cobalt, so it is often called tungsten-cobalt alloy. The most widely used tools in the industrial field are basically carbide tools, so carbide, a tungsten alloy, is also called "industrial tooth".
