Forged bars get manufactured from billets, much like hot-rolled bars. However, they get forged (hammered or pressed) to the required dimensions instead of rolled. The corresponding standard for a 440B stainless steel forged baris ASTM A276. The standard requires lengths of 1500mm- 6000mm and diameters of 1mm-400mm.Many manufacturers abide by this internationally accepted standard. This specification includes hot- and cold-finished bars and excludes bars for re-forging. Different shapes, like round, hexagon, etc., get covered under this standard.
