Nitronic 60 High Strength Flat Bar UNS S21800
Nitronic 60 Flat Bar is a true all-rounder. Originally designed as a wear resistant alloy, this fully austenitic alloy has since exhibited good elevated temperature properties to approximately 1800ºF. The addition of silicon and manganese gives the alloy a matrix that inhibits galling, seizure and fretting even in the annealed condition. Higher strength is obtained by cold working and the fully austenitic condition remains after heavy cold working. Cold working does not enhance seizure resistance as it does in carbon steels and some stainless steels. Cold or hot working increases the strength and hardness of the material without a significant loss in wear resistance. The addition of chromium and nickel gives it corrosion resistance comparable to that of 304 and 316 stainless steels. High mechanical strength enables the use of smaller cross-sectional areas to reduce weight and reduces cost by using thinner stock.
