Inconel 690 (UNS N06690) high temperature resistant/corrosion resistant/high-end alloy
Inconel 690(UNS N06690)
1. Introduction:
INCONEL 690 (UNS N06690/W. Nr. 2.4642) is a high-chromium nickel-based alloy. It is a new third-generation alloy with better stress corrosion resistance and other properties under the working conditions of pressurized water reactor heat transfer tubes. This alloy was publicly announced in 1972. It is actually an improved alloy based on Inconel 600 with increased chromium content. Since 1982, this alloy has been used to manufacture evaporator U-shaped tubes for pressurized water power reactors. Currently, it has been widely used in evaporators of pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants abroad and has begun to be used in some components built within the reactor. At present, the 690 alloy heat transfer tubes developed by Baosteel Special Steel in China for nuclear power steam generators have been mass-produced and domestically produced, and have begun to be used in domestic nuclear power plants. The UNS N06690 alloy U-shaped heat transfer tubes manufactured by Baosteel Special Steel in batches for third-generation nuclear power steam generators have been contracted for 325 tons and will be delivered to Shanghai Electric and Dongfang Heavy Machinery for use in the National Nuclear Power Shidao Bay CAP1400 Demonstration Reactor Project. Supply specifications: Φ17.48x1.01mm.

2. Performance
Inconel 690 has excellent corrosion resistance against a variety of corrosive water media and high temperature environments. In addition, Inconel 690 has high strength, high metallurgical stability and excellent processing properties. The Cr in the chemical composition of the alloy makes the alloy significantly resistant to oxidizing chemicals and high-temperature oxidizing gas corrosion. The high nickel content gives the alloy resistance to stress corrosion cracking in halide-containing environments and sodium hydroxide solutions.
3. Purpose
Inconel 690 has use in applications containing nitric acid or nitric/hydrofluoric acid solutions. Such as exhaust gas heaters in nitric acid production, as well as containers and heating coils for nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid solutions in stainless steel pickling and nuclear fuel recycling.
The alloy's corrosion resistance to sulfur-containing gases makes it a popular material for use in a variety of applications: coal gasification units, burners and furnace tubes for handling sulfuric acid, petrochemical furnaces, heat exchangers, incinerators and disposals Vitrification equipment for radioactive waste.
Inconel 690 exhibits very low corrosion rates and excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in various types of high temperature water environments. Therefore, the alloy is widely used in steam generator tube sheets, tube sheets and various hardware for nuclear power generation.
