Hastelloy B and C are two common types, and their main differences lie in chemical composition and corrosion resistance.
1. Hastelloy B:
- Composition:
- Nickel (Ni): The main component, usually accounting for 60% - 70% of the alloy.
- Molybdenum (Mo): Usually accounting for 28% - 30%.
- Chromium (Cr): A small amount, usually less than 1%.
- Performance:
- Corrosion resistance: It has excellent corrosion resistance to hydrofluoric acid and fluoride, and is particularly suitable for strong acid environments.
- High temperature resistance: It can maintain a certain strength in high temperature environments, but its high temperature resistance is slightly inferior to Hastelloy C.
- Application areas: It is mainly used in equipment in the chemical processing industry, such as reactors, pipelines and pumps, especially for hydrofluoric acid environments.
2. Hastelloy C:
- Composition:
- Nickel (Ni): The main component, usually accounting for 50% - 60% of the alloy.
- Molybdenum (Mo): usually 15% - 20%.
- Chromium (Cr): usually 14% - 16%.
- Iron (Fe): usually 4% - 5%.
- Performance:
- Corrosion resistance: has excellent corrosion resistance, and can resist strong acids, chlorides, fluorides and oxidizing media.
- High temperature resistance: has high high temperature resistance and can maintain stable performance under extreme temperatures.
- Application fields: widely used in equipment and components under extreme conditions such as chemical processing, petroleum refining, aerospace, etc.
Summary:
- Hastelloy B: particularly suitable for strong acid environments such as hydrofluoric acid, with excellent corrosion resistance, but slightly inferior in high temperature resistance.
- Hastelloy C: has a wider range of corrosion resistance, including strong acids, chlorides, fluorides and oxidizing media, strong high temperature resistance, and is suitable for a wider range of applications.
