Overview
Inconel 718 is a Gamma Prime strengthened alloy with excellent mechanical properties at both high and low temperatures. Suitable for temperatures up to about 1300 F. Easily machined and age hardened.
Excellent strength from -423°F to 1300°F (-253°C to 705°C). Age-hardenable, weldable in the fully aged condition, excellent oxidation resistance up to 1800°F (980°C). Typically sold in the solution annealed condition, but can be ordered aged, cold worked, or cold worked and aged.
Applications
Inconel 718 tends to be used in gas turbine components and cryogenic tanks. Jet engines, pump bodies and parts, rocket engines and thrust reversers, nuclear fuel element gaskets, hot extrusion tools. Other common uses are high-strength bolts and downhole shafting.
