Gnee Steel is a professional manufacturer of Inconel 718 sheet metal. Gnee Steel's 718 alloy sheet packaging includes: steel strapping: pipes with an outer diameter not exceeding 3 inches are typically bundled together with polypropylene film to prevent rusting during sea transport, then secured with steel straps; wooden crates/crates: pipes are usually packed in wooden crates or crates for protection during transport, especially for longer or larger diameter pipes; seaworthy export packaging: suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include various materials and techniques to protect pipes during transport; tarpaulin packaging: to prevent rainwater, seawater, etc., from seeping into the export wooden crate packaging during transport. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sales of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, and nuclear energy fields, and can provide customized alloy material solutions according to customer needs. Understanding Inconel 718 Alloy Plates: Performance and Applications

Understanding Inconel 718 Alloy Plates: Performance and Applications
Inconel 718 (UNS N07718/W.Nr. 2.4668) is a precipitation-hardening nickel-based superalloy with high strength and corrosion resistance, particularly suitable for temperature ranges from low temperatures to 700°C (1300°F). Due to its excellent weldability, fatigue resistance, and creep rupture strength, it is widely considered a mainstay in the superalloy industry. Inconel 718 in sheet form is widely used in critical components in industries such as aerospace, oil and gas, and power generation.
What are the mechanical properties of Inconel 718?
Properties of Inconel 718
Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy ideal for applications requiring high strength over a temperature range from low temperatures to 1400°F (760°C). Inconel 718 also exhibits excellent tensile and impact strength.

Inconel 718 sheet is a type of sheet metal rolled from a precipitation-hardening nickel-chromium-based superalloy (Inconel 718). Its core characteristic is precipitation strengthening through elements such as niobium and molybdenum, resulting in ultra-high strength, excellent creep and fatigue resistance even at temperatures up to approximately 700°C, while maintaining good corrosion resistance. It is specifically designed for manufacturing critical structural components subjected to extreme stress, high temperatures, and complex loads, such as aero-engine casings, aerospace structural parts, high-performance molds, and oil drilling equipment. It is a crucial sheet metal in the aerospace, energy, and high-end manufacturing sectors where stringent requirements for material mechanical properties and high-temperature stability are present.

Inconel 718 Sheet Performance Characteristics
Inconel 718 sheet metal is renowned for maintaining structural integrity under extreme stress and temperature conditions, under which other materials may fail.

Inconel 718 Sheet Performance Characteristics
High Strength and Heat Resistance: This alloy retains high tensile strength, yield strength, and creep rupture strength at temperatures up to 700°C (1300°F). It is commonly used in applications requiring extremely high high-temperature strength.
Corrosion and Oxidation Resistance: It exhibits excellent resistance to corrosion, pitting, and stress corrosion cracking in harsh environments, including seawater and acidic gases (H₂S).
Weldability: Unlike other aluminum/titanium-reinforced superalloys, Inconel 718 possesses excellent weldability and effectively prevents post-weld cracking.
Physical Properties: Density is approximately 8.2 g/cm³ (0.296 lb/in³). It is non-magnetic.
Microstructure: High strength is achieved through the precipitation of γ' and γ'' phases during heat treatment, typically following standards such as AMS 5596 (plates/sheets).
