Inconel 718 material properties

Inconel 718 material properties
Inconel 718 is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium superalloy known for its excellent mechanical properties (tensile strength, fatigue resistance, creep resistance) over a wide temperature range, from cryogenic temperatures to high temperatures (up to approximately 700°C/1300°F). It also possesses good weldability and machinability, making it an ideal material for aerospace (jet engines, airframes) and energy applications. Its key characteristics include high tensile strength, good creep rupture life, a density of approximately 0.296 lb/in³ (8.19 g/cm³), and excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance. Its main components are nickel, chromium, iron, molybdenum, and niobium.
What are the disadvantages of Inconel 718?
Disadvantages and alternatives to Inconel 718
Despite its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, Inconel 718 also has some drawbacks: Cost: Due to its complex manufacturing process, Inconel 718 is expensive. Difficult to machine: Its high hardness makes material removal difficult and accelerates tool wear.

Properties of Inconel 718
Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy that is ideal for applications requiring high strength at temperatures ranging from cryogenic temperatures up to 1400°F (approximately 760°C). Inconel 718 also possesses excellent tensile strength and impact strength.
