Inconel 718 annealed tube

Inconel 718 annealed tube
Inconel 718 annealed tubing is a high-strength nickel-based alloy that retains its mechanical properties at high temperatures, is corrosion-resistant, and is easy to weld and process. The annealed state gives it good ductility and weldability, allowing for further heat treatment or direct application in aerospace components, oil and gas equipment, and high-pressure steam systems.
What is the annealing temperature for Inconel 718?
1700°F-1850°F
As mentioned earlier, the annealing temperature of 1700°F-1850°F and the corresponding aging treatment are the optimal heat treatment processes for Inconel 718 alloys, especially suitable for applications that require comprehensive consideration of fracture life, notch fracture life, and fracture ductility.

Application Areas
Aerospace: Used in jet engine blades, hubs, gaskets, and high-temperature bolts and fasteners.
Oil & Gas: Used in downhole components and other equipment requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.
Chemical Processing: Used in applications exposed to corrosive chemicals and high-pressure environments.
Power Generation: Suitable for boiler tubes and other components in high-temperature power plants.
Processing and Treatment
Welding: Annealed Inconel 718 is easy to weld. For age-hardened Inconel 718, welding can be performed before aging treatment. TIG welding is used with suitable welding wire.
Heat Treatment: This material can be further strengthened through age hardening. This process can be adjusted according to specific circumstances to obtain optimal tensile/fracture strength at high temperatures or for use in low-temperature environments.
Machining: Due to its high hardness, machining is challenging.
Brazing: Silver brazing flux is not recommended for cold-worked or precipitation-hardened Inconel 718, as it may cause stress and cracking.
What does "annealing" mean for this type of tubing?
The annealing process softens the metal, making it more ductile and easier to process.
Annealing is an ideal initial processing state because it facilitates bending and shaping, and its excellent weldability is particularly pronounced in this state.
After annealing, a final heat treatment (age hardening) is usually performed to obtain the final high strength properties required for the application.
