Difference between Inconel 625 and 600 Welded Pipe

Difference between Inconel 625 and 600 Welded Pipe
Inconel 625 welded pipe outperforms Inconel 600 welded pipe in strength, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature performance, but it is also more expensive. Inconel 600 welded pipe offers good high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance, especially in non-chlorinated environments, and is less expensive. A key difference in Inconel 625 welded pipe is the addition of molybdenum, which gives it enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in saltwater environments.
Are Nickel Alloy 600 and Inconel 600 the same alloy?
Nickel Alloy 600, also sold under the brand name Inconel 600, is a unique nickel-chromium alloy known for its oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It has a wide range of applications, suitable for high-temperature applications from low temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C).

Both Inconel 600 and Inconel 625 welded pipes are solid solution strengthened Inconel alloy pipes.
Due to differences in chemical composition, these two alloys differ in corrosion resistance and strength.
This article will compare these two alloys from several aspects to help you make the right choice for your project.
Inconel 600 Welded Pipe
INCONEL (NiCrFe) Alloy 600 (UNS N06600 / W.Nr. 2.4816) is a standard engineering material suitable for applications requiring corrosion and heat resistance. This alloy also possesses excellent mechanical properties, combining high strength with good machinability.
Inconel 625 Welded Pipe
INCONEL NiCr Alloy 625 (UNS N06625 / W.Nr. 2.4856) is widely used due to its high strength, excellent machinability (including joining properties), and outstanding corrosion resistance. Its operating temperature range is from low temperatures to 1800°F (982°C).
