Detailed information on Inconel 601 round bars and Inconel 690 round bars
Inconel 601 and 690 round bars are nickel-based alloys known for their high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance. Inconel 601 (UNS N06601), due to its aluminum content, exhibits excellent performance in high-temperature oxidation, carburization, and scaling resistance; while Inconel 690 (UNS N06690), with its higher chromium content, offers greater resistance to aqueous corrosion (such as chloride stress corrosion cracking) and high temperatures. Therefore, both alloys are crucial for demanding chemical, aerospace, and heat treatment environments, with 601 focusing more on high-temperature resistance/oxidation resistance, and 690 focusing more on resistance to severe corrosion.
What is Inconel 601?
INCONEL 601 nickel-chromium-iron alloy (UNS N06601/W.Nr. 2.4851) is a general-purpose engineering material suitable for applications requiring heat and corrosion resistance. A notable characteristic of INCONEL 601 alloy is its excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation.

Inconel 601 alloy rods offer superior oxidation resistance and maintain excellent performance at temperatures up to 2100°F (1149°C), making them ideal for chemical processing applications. Furthermore, they possess excellent strength, ductility, and weldability. Inconel 601 alloy rods are resistant to various acids and alkalis, making them an ideal choice for manufacturing processes involving harsh environments or corrosive chemicals.
Inconel 690 rods are a nickel-based alloy with a high chromium content (approximately 29%). Its core advantage lies in its unparalleled resistance to stress corrosion cracking in high-temperature, high-pressure water media, chloride-containing environments, and caustic alkali environments, while also possessing excellent oxidation and carburization resistance. It is primarily used in the manufacture and processing of critical structural components requiring extremely high corrosion resistance and long-term stability, such as steam generator partitions and support components in nuclear power plants, spent fuel reprocessing equipment, high-strength alkali environment components, and demanding chemical equipment. It is a top-tier raw material for ensuring nuclear energy safety and industrial reliability.
