Comparison of Hastelloy C276 and Alloy B2 butt-welded pipe fittings

Comparison of Hastelloy C276 and Alloy B2 butt-welded pipe fittings
Hastelloy C276 offers broad, all-around corrosion resistance (oxidation/reduction, wet chlorine, etc.) and superior temperature resistance, while alloy B2 is particularly suitable for strongly reducing acidic environments such as HCl/H₂SO₄, but has poorer resistance to oxidizing conditions. Therefore, C276 is more suitable for various chemical processing, oil/gas, and pollution control, while B2 is suitable for specific heavy acid, low oxidant systems. Both can be provided as butt-welded pipe fittings.
Is Hastelloy C276 resistant to sulfuric acid corrosion?
C-276 alloy exhibits excellent resistance to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, chlorides, solvents, wet chloride gases, hypochlorites, and chlorine solutions. It also demonstrates excellent resistance to phosphoric acid corrosion at all temperatures below its boiling point and in phosphoric acid solutions with a concentration below 65%.

Hastelloy B-2 butt-welded pipe fittings are nickel-molybdenum alloy (Hastelloy B-2) pipe connections (such as elbows and tees) that use a butt-welded connection. Their core feature is achieving a seamless pipe connection through precision welding, fully utilizing the excellent corrosion resistance of Hastelloy B-2 alloy in reducing acid media (especially non-oxidizing acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid) and high-temperature chloride environments. These fittings are specifically designed for piping systems in chemical, pharmaceutical, and pickling equipment that require handling strongly reducing acid media, ensuring the system's sealing and structural integrity in harsh corrosive environments. However, strict control of the welding process is necessary to prevent material embrittlement.
Hastelloy C-276 butt-welded pipe fittings are nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten superalloy (Hastelloy C-276) pipe connections (such as elbows and tees) that utilize a butt-welded connection. Their core strength lies in achieving a seamless pipe connection through precision welding, fully leveraging the almost universal corrosion resistance of C-276 alloy. They effectively resist extreme media such as strong oxidizing and reducing acids, mixed acids, chlorides, and wet chlorine gas. These fittings are specifically designed for the most corrosive industrial piping systems in chemical, pharmaceutical, flue gas desulfurization, and marine engineering industries, ensuring reliable sealing and long-term corrosion resistance in harsh environments. They are key components for top-tier corrosion-resistant alloy pipe connections.
