GH2696
GH2696 High Temperature Alloy

GH2696 is a high-temperature alloy based on an Fe-25Ni-12Cr matrix, strengthened through the combined addition of small amounts of neodymium, aluminum, and molybdenum, together with trace boron. At temperatures below 650°C, the alloy offers high yield strength, stress-rupture strength, and creep strength, along with good high-temperature elastic properties, resistance to hot-gas corrosion, and processing ductility.

GH2696 is suitable for manufacturing turbine and compressor fasteners, disks and blades, turbine casings, ring components (including retaining rings), and cylindrical helical springs designed for long-term service at temperatures below 650°C. Its short-term service temperature can reach up to 750°C.

GH2696 Heat Treatment & Melting Process

Heat Treatment:

GH2696 is a precipitation‑hardening Fe‑Ni‑Cr wrought superalloy, which relies on γ' phase precipitation for strength improvement. Its complete heat‑treatment cycle includes solution treatment + aging hardening:

  • Solution Treatment Procedure: Heat to 980 °C‑1020 °C (1796 °F‑1868 °F), followed by air cooling.
  • Soaking Time Rule: Soaking duration depends on workpiece section thickness; allow 1 hour soaking time per 25 mm (1 inch) of effective thickness for full homogenization.
  • Aging Hardening Procedure: After solution cooling, perform aging treatment at 680 °C‑720 °C, hold for 16 hours, air cool to room temperature, to precipitate γ' strengthening phase and achieve target mechanical strength.

Melting Process:

GH2696 adopts Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) plus Electroslag Remelting (ESR) dual‑melting route for aerospace‑grade quality requirements. Critical high‑reliability components can select VIM+ESR+VAR triple remelting.

  • Primary Melting (VIM): Vacuum Induction Melting delivers strict chemical composition control, removes harmful gaseousimpurities (O2, N2, H2), and avoids burning loss of active alloying elements such as Titanium (Ti) and Aluminum (Al).
  • Secondary Refining (ESR): Electroslag Remelting eliminates low-melting-point tramp elements, reduces non-metallic incusions.
  • improves ingot macrostructure, and minimizes ingot segregation and central shrinkage porosity.
  • (i) : GH2696 cannot be put into service under only solution state; aging treatment is mandatory to obtain
  • high tensile strength and elastic performance for fasteners, springs and structural parts.

High-Temperature Alloy Supply

Why Choose Our GH2696 Alloy?

  • Reliable high‑temperature mechanical properties Solution‑strengthened Fe‑Ni‑Cr superalloy, maintaining stable tensile and creep‑rupture performance up to 1000 °C, resisting thermal cyclic brittle fracture for high‑temp structural parts.
  • Excellent high‑temperature oxidation & thermal corrosion resistance Cr‑Ni‑rich matrix forms dense protective oxide film. Good oxidation resistance below 1000 °C, tolerates mixed gas and chloride‑containing corrosive media.
  • Stable homogenized microstructure Supplied in solution‑annealed condition with uniform austenitic grains. Low carbide precipitation reduces intergranular corrosion risk for long‑term service.
  • Good processing & welding performance Suitable for hot forming and controlled cold working. Conventional welding processes are applicable, available for bars, plates, tubes and custom forgings.
