2304 Stainless Steel Plate is a lean grade duplex stainless steel alloy. Duplex alloys are composed of equally distributed ferrite and austenitic steel properties with chromium, nickel and molybdenum in defined quantities depending on the grade. Lean duplex is one of three common grades available in duplex steel. UNS S32304 Plate is a lean duplex and has an excellent combination of corrosion resistance and strength as a result of the alloy mixture and the microstructure. UNS S32304 Sheet has good resistance against acidic environments and can be used in industries such as the phosphoric acid industry.

2304 is a 23% chromium, 4% nickel, molybdenum-free duplex stainless steel whose structure is a balance of ferrite and austenite. It has general corrosion resistance similar to or better than alloys 304L and 316L, but has nearly twice the yield strength of austenitic stainless steels. Its dual-phase microstructure and low nickel and high chromium content also allow Duplex 2304 to exhibit better stress corrosion resistance compared to 304 and 316.
