SS 904L contains chemical elements such as chromium, nickel, manganese, phosphorous, sulfur, molybdenum and copper. Grade SS 904L is non-magnetic in all conditions, has excellent formability and weldability. The high chromium content contributes to the formation and maintenance of a passive film that protects the material in many corrosive environments. Our plates and sheets exhibit many physical properties such as specific heat, thermal conductivity, thermal expansion, density and electrical resistivity.
The addition of copper to this grade gives it outstanding anti-corrosion properties for common chromium and nickel stainless steels, especially sulfuric, phosphoric and acetic acids. However, the use of hydrochloric acid is limited. It also has high resistance to pitting in chloride solutions, high resistance to cracking and stress corrosion cracking. Due to its higher nickel and molybdenum alloy content, SS 904L performs better than other austenitic stainless steels.

SS 904L plates have an extreme minimal carbon saturation in them. This feature disables the sedimentation of the chromium carbide precipitate layer. Excellent fabrication abilities are demonstrated by SS 904L plates. SS 904L sheets are superiorly tough but may get hampered at times when subjected to work with higher temperature use.
These SS 904L sheets can then be forged into various other tools. The combination of several graded metals mixture gives them a unique luster and texture.
