Alloy 446 stainless steel is a high chromium ferritic stainless steel commonly used in high temperature applications from 1500 °F to 2200 °F. 446 stainless steel is the most oxidation resistant steel among the 400 series stainless. Its resistance to cyclic oxidation is equal to or better than 309 and 310 steels, but has lower strength at elevated temperatures.
