ASTM B127 K500 Nickel Alloy Plate
Monel K-500 sheet is known for its optimal combination of copper and nickel, which enhances its corrosion resistance. The product is now available with more additional features. These advantages come from the combination of titanium and aluminum, with copper and nickel as the base. Its enhanced properties lie in its hardness and strength, which is achieved by heat treatment that affects the precipitation phases thanks to the use of copper and nickel. This treatment is usually called aging or age hardening.
In addition to this, it is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and is suitable for any environment. Its yield strength is three times that of the 400 grade. Its strength remains unchanged at 1200°F. But when the temperature rises to 400°F, its ductility and toughness decrease. In addition, its melting point is also between 2400-2460°F. It is non-magnetic at temperatures as low as -200°F.
One thing you need to know about Monel K-500 sheet is that it acquires certain magnetic properties after processing. During heating, it undergoes selective oxidation, leaving behind a nickel-rich magnetic film. Later, during normal processing, it even regains its non-magnetic properties. Today, manufacturers who produce these sheets treat this material very carefully, as they do not want to make any mistakes, otherwise it will lose its properties.
