Molybdenum Products Application

Molybdenum Tungsten Alloy video

Molybdenum-tungsten alloy has higher resistance to zinc corrosion than pure metal molybdenum, and is used in some corrosion-resistant parts of zinc liquid temperature measuring tubes, zinc liquid pump rotors, and zinc smelting furnaces.

Molybdenum-tungsten alloy can also be used in the gas rudder and protective cover of solid rocket motors due to its high melting point, resistance to ablation and solid particle flame erosion.

Molybdenum alloy is a non-ferrous alloy composed of molybdenum as a matrix and adding other elements. The main alloying elements are titanium, zirconium, hafnium, tungsten and rare earth elements. Titanium, zirconium, and hafnium elements not only play a solid solution strengthening role in molybdenum alloys and maintain the low-temperature plasticity of the alloys, but also form stable, dispersed carbide phases to increase the strength and recrystallization temperature of the alloys. Molybdenum alloy has good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and low expansion coefficient. It has high strength at high temperatures (1100~1650℃) and is easier to process than tungsten. It can be used as the grid and anode of electron tubes, the support material of electric light sources, and in the production of die-casting and extrusion molds, parts of spacecraft, etc. Since molybdenum alloys have low-temperature brittleness and welding brittleness, and are easily oxidized at high temperatures, their development is limited. Industrially produced molybdenum alloys include molybdenum titanium zirconium series, molybdenum tungsten series and molybdenum rare earth series alloys. The first type is the most widely used. The main strengthening methods of molybdenum alloys are solid solution strengthening, precipitation strengthening and work hardening. Molybdenum alloy plates, strips, foils, pipes, rods, wires and profiles can be produced through plastic processing, and their strength and low-temperature plasticity can also be improved.
