Hastelloy C276 bars (nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy) offer broad corrosion resistance, making them suitable for both redox and high-temperature environments, and thus have a wide range of applications. Hastelloy B2 (nickel-molybdenum alloy), on the other hand, excels particularly in strong reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid). Its molybdenum content contributes to its superior strength in harsh chemical environments, although C276 alloy bars generally handle a wider variety of corrosive media and temperatures better. B2 bars are more suitable for reducing acids, while C276 round bars are better suited for mixed/oxidizing/high-temperature environments.

What is Hastelloy C276?
Hastelloy C-276 alloy (UNS N10276) is the first forged nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy material. Due to its extremely low carbon and silicon content, it effectively alleviates many problems in the welding process.

Hastelloy C276 rods are rod-shaped profiles made of a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten superalloy (Hastelloy C-276). Their core advantage is their near-universal corrosion resistance, effectively resisting extreme corrosive media such as strong oxidizing and reducing acids, mixed acids, chlorides, wet chlorine gas, and harsh acidic salt solutions. They exhibit particularly excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. They are primarily used in the manufacture and processing of critical components in the most corrosive industrial environments, such as chemical pumps and valves, agitator shafts, reactor internals, marine engineering fasteners, and flue gas desulfurization system components. They are currently the top-tier rod-shaped raw material with the broadest corrosion resistance range among commercial alloys.
Hastelloy B-2 rods are rod-shaped profiles made of a nickel-molybdenum alloy (Hastelloy B-2). Their core characteristic is excellent corrosion resistance in reducing acidic media (especially non-oxidizing acids such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and phosphoric acid) and high-temperature chloride environments, but they may become embrittled in oxidizing media or at high temperatures. It is mainly used in the manufacture and processing of chemical equipment, pickling equipment, reactors and key components that need to resist corrosion by strong reducing acids in reducing environments. It is a special material for handling harsh media such as hydrochloric acid, but attention should be paid to its sensitivity during processing and heat treatment.
