Industries and Applications
C-276 alloy is widely used in numerous industries, including chemical and petrochemical processing, oil and gas, power generation, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, and wastewater treatment. Its end uses include chimney linings, ducting, dampers, scrubbers, flue gas reheaters, heat exchangers, reactor vessels, evaporators, conveying piping, and many other highly corrosive applications.
Corrosion Resistance
C-276 alloy is one of the most versatile corrosion-resistant alloys currently available. It is suitable for environments ranging from moderately oxidizing to strongly reducing. C-276 alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, chlorides, solvents, wet chloride gases, hypochlorites, and chlorine solutions. C-276 alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance at all temperatures below the boiling point and in phosphoric acid solutions with concentrations below 65%. In highly oxidizing environments, its limiting factor is its low chromium content, which means it is not ideal for high-temperature concentrated nitric acid environments.
C-276 alloy offers excellent resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and oxidation. Alloy C-276 also exhibits excellent resistance to seawater corrosion in crevice conditions, where seawater corrosion may cause erosive corrosion to other commonly used materials.
