C276 corrosion resistant high temperature alloy
C276 features: The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in the oxidized and reduced states. Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Alloys are suitable for use in a variety of chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. The corrosion-resistant C276 high-temperature alloy sheet has high molybdenum and chromium content, which makes the alloy resistant to chloride ion erosion. The tungsten element also further improves its corrosion resistance. C276 is one of the only materials that is resistant to corrosion by wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions. The alloy has significant corrosion resistance to high-concentration chloride salt solutions (such as ferric chloride and copper chloride).

HastelloyC-276 metallographic structure: HastelloyC-276 has a face-centered cubic lattice structure, and its chemical composition ensures metallographic stability and kangminability.
HastelloyC-276 Precautions:
(1) Hastelloy C-276 alloy can be manufactured and processed using traditional production processes.
(2) Always keep the workpiece clean and pollution-free before and during heat treatment.
(3) The sensitization sensitivity of the alloy when rapidly cooled at 1000°C ~ 600°C should be fully considered.
(4) Do not contact low-melting point metals such as sulfur, phosphorus, and lead during heat treatment. Otherwise, the properties of the alloy will be destroyed. Pay attention to clear dirt, such as marking paint, temperature indicating paint, colored crayons, lubricating oil, fuel, etc.
(5) The lower the sulfur content of the fuel, the better. The sulfur content of natural gas should be less than 0.1%, and the sulfur content of heavy oil should be less than 0.5%.
(6) The furnace gas heating furnace is preferably neutral to micro-oxidizing. The furnace gas should be prevented from fluctuating between oxidation and reduction. The heating flame cannot burn directly onto the workpiece.
HastelloyC-276 heating:
The workpiece should always be kept clean and free of contamination before and during heat treatment. Do not contact low-melting point metals such as sulfur, phosphorus, and lead during heat treatment. Otherwise Nicrofer6616hMo alloy will become brittle. Pay attention to clear dirt, such as marking paint, temperature indicating paint, crayons, lubricating oil, fuel, etc. The lower the sulfur content in the fuel, the better; the sulfur content in natural gas should be less than 0.1%, and the sulfur content in heavy oil should be less than 0.5%. Electric furnace heating is a better choice because the electric furnace can precisely control the furnace temperature and the furnace gas is clean. If the gas stove gas is pure enough, it is also an option. The furnace gas of the heating furnace is preferably neutral to slightly reducing. Fluctuations between oxidation and reduction of the furnace gas should be avoided. The heating flame cannot burn directly onto the workpiece.


Hastelloy C-276 alloy heat treatment:
(1) The heat treatment temperature range of HastelloyC-276 is 1200℃~950℃, and the cooling method is water cooling or rapid air cooling.
(2) In order to ensure good anti-corrosion performance, heat treatment should be carried out after heat treatment, and the workpiece should be added directly to the heated heat treatment furnace.
Cold working of Hastelloy C-276 alloy:
(1) The work hardening rate of Hastelloy-276 is higher than that of austenitic stainless steel, so it is necessary to select processing equipment. The workpiece should be in solid solution heat treatment state, and there should be intermediate annealing in the cold rolling process.
(2) If the cold rolling deformation is greater than 15%, the workpiece needs to undergo secondary solution treatment.
Hastelloy C-276 alloy heat treatment:
(1) The solution treatment temperature range of Hastelloy-276 is 1100℃~1160℃.
(2) The cooling method is water quenching. Materials with a thickness less than 1.5mm can also be used for rapid air cooling. If air cooling is used, it should be cooled from 1000℃ to 600℃ within 2 minutes.
(3) During the heat treatment process, the workpiece must be kept clean.
Hastelloy C-276 alloy surface removal:
(1) The surface oxide layer and welding slag around HastelloyC-276 has stronger adhesion than stainless steel. It is recommended to use a fine-grain abrasive belt or fine-grain grinding wheel for grinding.
(2) Before pickling with HNO3/HF mixed acid, the oxide film must be sandblasted or polished.
Processing of Hastelloy C-276 alloy: Due to its sensitivity to work hardening, it is recommended to use low cutting speeds and heavy cutting tools for processing to make it easy to process.
