The 800H/800HT alloys are two separate solid solution strengthened iron-nickel-chromium alloys. They are usually offered as a single dual certified alloy that meets the chemical composition requirements of both alloys. The main difference between the 800H and 800HT alloys is that the aluminum and titanium content in the 800HT alloy is limited, resulting in higher creep and stress rupture properties. The 800H and 800HT alloys are generally considered superior to the base alloy 800 (UNS N08800) because they have higher creep and stress rupture properties and a tighter carbon content (wt%) range. The 800H alloy limits the carbon content (wt%) to between 0.5% and 0.1%, while the 800HT alloy limits the carbon content to between 0.6% and 0.1%. The 800 H/HT alloys also have grain size restrictions, while the 800 alloy has no such restrictions.

The high nickel content of Inconel 800H Bar increases the alloy's corrosion resistance to a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds. The presence of nickel actually makes 800 Nickel Alloy Hot Rolled Bar resistant to chloride ion stress induced corrosion cracking as well. The combination of chromium and nickel enhances the alloy's resistance to sulfur containing compounds while also providing oxidation resistance in environments with high temperatures or corrosive solutions when applied to 800H Inconel Polished Bar.
